First Announcement Line Up

Cork’s most exciting new music festival It Takes a Village, is happening at Trabolgan Holiday Village in Cork, April 13th – 15th..  Their second line up has been announced adding to the, already, stellar list of names like Young Fathers, Talos, Fujiya & Miyagi, Le Boom and Brian Deady.

Topping the bill for Sunday 15th April is The Gloaming front man Martin Hayes, who teams up with guitar virtuoso Steve Cooney for a rare performance in the idyllic and pastoral surroundings of Trabolgan Holiday Village. The Sunday will also feature Blindboy Boatclub, as he hosts his chart topping podcast live, along with a few surprises. LCD Soundsystem label mate Shit Robot brings his acid house & disco sound, and award winning folk miscreants, Lankum, will make an appearance, along with the big, bold, New Orleans influenced party troupe Booka Brass.

Cork’s finest purveyors of house, Fish Go Deep continue their 30th-anniversary celebrations at the festival, while Roger Doyle, the pioneer of Irish electronic music, will join with writer Kevin Barry for a very special one off performance. Prepare for spaced out, post-apocalyptic prog rock from The Jimmy Cake, and ethereal soundscapes from the ever endearing Saint Sister.

 It Takes A Village is unique in that they offer 150 self-catering houses and apartments, plus 35 fully-serviced campervan sites, contained in Trabolgan Holiday Village. There is no camping in muddy fields here, your booking includes accommodation and unlimited access to the huge variety of entertainment. It’s a residents only affair for the festival weekend, with a limited amount of day tickets on Sunday. All Tier 1 tickets are now sold out, and many of the Tier 2 options have gone too. Tier 3 tickets go on sale on February 7th from www.ittakesavillage.fm. There are also Payment Plan options currently on offer, whereby folks can avail of a 25% deposit on houses only, this option jumps to 50% deposit on the 1st of February so best get moving!

Indiependence Festival Cork

One of the first festival announcements for Cork this summer. Indiependence festival is giving us a taste of who will be rocking Cork summer 2018.

Some of Ireland’s biggest and best live acts join an initial announcement that features some new faces for INDIE and some old friends. Walking on Cars have cemented their place as one of this country’s most successful bands since playing the Beer Hall at INDIE14. They head up a strong Irish contingent that already features Le GalaxieKing Kong Company, HamsandwicH, The Blizzards, Le Boom, Wild Youth and 1000 Beasts.

The UK’s thriving indie scene has been raided and welcomes some new names to INDIE18 that include Jake Bugg, Mercury Prize nominees Everything Everything, Brit Pop legends Cast and one of the UK’s hottest rising stars, Tom Grennan.

Meanwhile, INDIE18 will feature artists with strong Ministry of Sound ties with debuts from Sigala and Mylo. Mylo has remixed tracks from Scissors Sisters, Amy Winehouse, The Killers and The Knife to name a few in recent times while Sigala’s track ‘Easy Love’ hit Number 1 in the UK singles chart and has amassed over 300m views on YouTube alongside ‘Sweet Lovin’’.

 

BARE in the Woods

BARE in the Woods 2017 has announced more block rockin’ beats for this summer’s rapidly expanding festival at Garryhinch Woods inPortarlington on June 9 – 11. Joining headliners House of Pain and Helmet is Canadian electro-pop sensation Kiesza, who’s hit ‘Hideaway’ has clocked up an impressive 350 million views on YouTube. The BARE17 Dance Arena line up has also been revealed with acts of the calibre of Dan ShakeCinema, Damiano Von Eckert, Phare, Mr Beatnik and Josh McGowan leading the way.

Irish indie stalwarts HamsandwicH join a sensational and diverse bill at BARE 17, that already features Mike Skinner & Murkage present Tonga, UK hip hop/grime artist Akala, Danish experimental pop trio WhoMadeWhoRubberbandits,  Right Said FredAlvarez KingsJon Stevens (INXS)The Frank & Walters and RSAG. A Spoken Word Stage brimming with talent will host Dublin Slam Poet Champion Jon Cummins, Ri Ra, David Jackson, Cormac Lally, Stuart Wilde, Tempermental Missy Elayneous and more, while the Comedy Stage will be headlined by Andrew Maxwell and Karl Spain.
With a limited amount of Tier Two tickets still on sale, BARE in the Woods is bolstered by a fantastic Irish bill that has been programmed with the help of a new partnership with Mobstar. New names announced today include Brave GiantSuper Silly, Katie Laffin, Pranks, Katie Cassidy and Emma Jai.

BARE in the Woods’ bespoke woodland site features a party island on a lake, chill out spots hidden amongst the trees and a full sized Crannog hosting the Spoken Word Stage.

The Irish Youth Music Awards Returns To The Aviva Stadium on 22 April 2017

Youth Work Irelands Irish Youth Music Awards (IYMAs) marks its ten-year anniversary this year returning to the Aviva Stadium for its all ages National Day festival on Saturday,April 22, 2017. The National Day will see young musicians aged 12 – 19 from across the country representing their community and performing across two stages throughout the day. The IYMA’s also brings together some of Ireland’s top music industry personnel as it hosts a large educational hub supported by BIMM Institute Dublin. Featuring masterclasses and workshops in vocals, songwriting and more, festival goers can also attend panels led by music industry professionals including BIMM Institute Dublin lecturers and RTÉ 2FM Director of Music Alan Swan.

 Tickets for the IYMAs National Day are available from Eventbrite priced €20 including booking fee. The event is an all-ages, alcohol-free event. Group tickets are also here for youth clubs or projects priced €120 (including booking fee) allowing admission for five young people, two youth leaders and include a set lunch on the day.

The IYMAs is a youth music educational programme helping young bands and musicians aged 12-19 to learn new skills within the creative and music industries and acting as a stepping stone between further education or employment opportunities. With our exciting new partners RTÉ 2FM, BIMM Institute Dublin and LinkedIn Learning, we are providing added media exposure for young up and coming acts in the programme, an opportunity to apply for a musical equipment support bursary if accepted on to a BIMM institute Dublin course and use of Linkedin’s Learning platform to those participating in the programme. As part of the programme we further plan to develop progression paths for young people, and most importantly to create a space for the participants to perform, learn new skills and express themselves”, said Irish Youth Music AwardsDirector Barry Lennon.

Aimed at creating teamwork and friendship at local level, the Irish Youth Music Awards also provides first-hand work experience in all areas associated with the music business such as PR, stage management, graphic design, photography and much more. The programme honours the most effective music projects run by groups of young people based on the entire project from the band, to the crew, to the promotion and to the representing bands’ performance at the Aviva Stadium.

The overall recipient region will win recording time in a professional recording studio, a recording session in RTÉ’s legendary Studio 8 and a full backline provided by Music Maker Dublin. They will also produce an album of their own original tracks released on physical CD with a professional design. Last year’s IYMAs album stormed the Irish compilation charts entering at number five. The album will be digitally distributed worldwide through all major outlets including iTunes and Spotify.

Last year’s recipient act JANAJ from Team Galway who went on to support The Strypes with President Michael D Higgins in attendance said, “Taking part in the IYMAs has opened so many doors for us as musicians and individuals. We got a glimpse into the depth of work that goes into promoting, creating, and selling an act and their music. The IYMAs has helped the young people from our team in Galway grow our passion for music, as well as gaining skills and experience in areas that we may not experience in a traditional school setting.”

The Irish Youth Music Awards National Day takes place in the Aviva Stadium on Saturday 22 April 2017.

TONIGHTS GIG IN CRANE LANE

Tonight The Stoles play their first Cork gig in The Crane Lane Theatre tonight at 9pm. The Stoles have had much media attention recently and will be releasing their new single Man In A cave next week Thursday the 15Th of January.

To date they have played such great venues such as Wheelens Dublin and The Roisin Dubh Galway. It is exciting to have The Stoles playing Corks, Crane Lane. Not to be missed! Doors 8pm gig starts 9pm sharp. Hope to see you there 😀

Tonight at Crane Lane Cork Deadlights and none other then Toy Soldier play whats set to be an awesome show! Toy Soldier describe themselves as “An Irish based electro-pop trio combining a dance floor groove with rocking riffs. Think of your favourite club night with Nine Inch Nails and Blondie mashing it up on the decks.”
